The smith SADANORI with Kaganokami title was born in Kikuchi town Higo province (now in Kumamoto pref.), real name Suzuki Sauemon, had learned from the great master Inoue Shinkai, (the second gen. of Izuminokami KUNISADA). He worked for the Naito family, then 1672 (the second year of Enpo), exclusively served for Naito Yoshimune who was the feudal lord of Taira-han, Iwaki province (now in Fukushima pref.)

The subject katana, in the blade, is carved Samurai's defense god MA-RI-SHI-SON-TEN, the god of the Buddhism that rules self-defense, victory and the better fortune, who rides on the wild boar. Katana of SADANORI is ranking in JOSAKU (higher valued class) in [Sword-maker dictionary (chapter of the Shinto swords)] written by Fujishiro Yoshio, and ranked in Wazamono (good cutting performace) in the list of [Kaiho Kenjaku].

This sword is wide on base, thick in kasane, extended long blade leading to the middle tip, heavy on hand and heroically made. Forging is strong and precisely Itame (wooden grain marks) which is covered in uniform and bright brilliant hard metal granules so called JI-NIE. Hamon is soft style of Nioi mist based, strarts with straight (Oasaka style Yakidashi) then box shape (gunme), mixed with clove outline. In the interior of temper is filled in whitish misty Nioi with frequent Choji-Ashi feet toward the cutting edge. The temper of tip calms down straight with gently turns back. The entire workmanship has close resembles to the one of his great master Inoue Shinkai and It is impressively healthy, while many Samurais' families generations being treasured.
The accompanying Red Tame-Nuri (transparent lacquered) style Uchigatana Koshirae consists of: White rayskin/dark blue fumigate leather wrap hilt, Shibuichi copper alloy Fuchi/Kashira (A wild boar/Full moon), Shakudo copper alloy wild boar Menuki hilt ornaments, Koikuchi/Kurikata and Kojiri - all in Shakudo copper ground Zui-un (good fortune clouds) theme and Tuba is Shibuichi copper alloy, polish surface, gold Spiral Fukurin rim. This is the full complete set of sword which had been possessed by high-ranking official Samurais and being treasured.
Gold folied double layer habaki collar, accompanies Shira-Saya plain wood mounting.
