KUNIMASA in Horikawa school was a nephew of a great master Horikawa KUNIHIRO and a son of KUNI-MASA(MASA reads as SEI - different from MASA of this KUNIMASA). He learned from KUNIHIRO and had lived in Edo after his master KUNIHIRO passed away. The is a long wakizashi of which length is one shaku seven sun nine bu. There is an ordinary curvature and leading to middle kissaki, less hiraniku - the entire construction is a transitional shape between Keicho and Kanbun-shinto style. The jigane-hada of this wakizashi is a bit darkish and shows a bit outstanding grain marks which is a major identification of Horikawa-school. Temper is vivid and bright. The works of KUNIMASA in Horikawa school is rare and this work shows fine skill of KUNIMASA.
