Sugata(configuration) : Shinogi zukuri, Iori-mune. Mihaba is wide, Long tachi. Kasane is thick and there is deep Koshi-zori curvature standing firmly on base leading to a middle tip so called IKUBI-KISSAKI. There is chiselled half-way bo-hi grooves on both sides (click HERE for higher resolution)
Kitae(forging pattern) : Kitae is tight and fine ko-itame with a growing small blinking ji-nie granules and small darkish chikei activity. The entire jigane is finely and delicately forged.
Hamon(tempering pattern) : Hamon is ko-nie (delicate and uniform sparkling granules) base and interior is filled in moistly whitish Nioi-mist - Choji clove outline that varies in height and mixture with combination of slanted clove out-line so called Juka-Choji-midare. The entire temper heads are moderately round having a slanted choji-foot working toward the cutting edge. There is streaming SUNAGASHI stream (slight nie lines) works in the interior of temper.
Boshi (tip): Boshi is irregularly midarekomi and then medium circle turns back equally in good manner.
Nakago(tang) : Nakago is UBU (unaltered). One peg hole. Osujikai file marks and round heel shape.The signature is chiselled on the reversed side (Tachi-mei) starting from a place of work Chikuzen-koku 筑前国 and smith name Seto Yoshihiro-saku 瀬戸吉広作 and the other side is chiselled the date of year Spring, the sixty-third year of Showa 昭和六十三年春.
This is the superb work of Tachi by the famed modern smith SETO YOSHIHIRO 瀬戸吉広 when he was 43 yeas old. The smith Seto Yoshihiro was born in 1945 and learned from two living national treasures, firstly from Miyairi Akihira宮入昭平 and secondary from Suminani Masamine 隅谷正峯 after Showa 46 (1971). He has got the official licence of making Japanese sword in April Showa 52 (1977) to establish his atelier. He is one of the most skilled sword smiths present-day and became a Mukansa-master smith in Heisei 8 (1997) from remarkable achievement of Bizen-den.
This elegant tachi is as long as Two shaku and Six sun (78.9cm/31 inches) and gracefully carve deeply and is offered with a exclusively made sets of mount
Black lacquered Dragonfly metal work Tensho style koshirae of which all metal furniture are Dragonfly in common and the hilt tsuka is covered in polished sharkskin wrapped in gold and brown silk forming a lozenge pattern.
Original fresh polish/Condition scale: mint (using a scale of mint-excellent-very good-good-fair-poor) condition.
Copper ground gold foiled double layer habaki, Preserved in a Shira-Saya plain wood mounting.
