Sugata(configuration) : Shinogi-zukuri, Iori-mune. Massive katana, thick in Kasane, wide mihaba and less hiraniku, shallow curvature leading to a middle tip.(click HERE for super sized image).
Kitae(forging pattern) : Kitae-hada is Itame wooden grain marks mixing in with Masame straight grain marks along temper side. The surface is covered in thick Nie hard metal granules, thicker especially along temper side, generating Yubashiri blinking milky way, Yubashiri splits over the hiraji surface. Thick Nie lines so called Kinsen generates over surface.
Hamon(tempering pattern) : Hamon is hard Nie based, gunome generally, Ashi works well toward the cutting edge. The temper gives off bright light that works with Inazuma thunder, kinsen gold lines indication vividly active with Nie-activity.
Boshi (tip): The temper of the tip comes in irregular gunome-midare with hakikake blushing indication then deeply turns back.
Nakago(tang) : Suriage cut off the tang unsigned, Shallow round end heel shape and Shallow Kattesagari filemarks. Two mekugi-ana (one is filled).
A Mino-Seki frontier smith KINJU who belonged to Yamato school in Echizen province is said one of the ten genious smiths of MASAMUNE. The subject smith KANEYUKI, a son of KINJU was active during Ouan period middle of 14 th century. This katana shows a compromise between Yamato school and Soshu technique, temper made up mainly of regularly repeated gunome indication with pure nie that gives off brilliant flash, Kinsen or Sunagashi genuine Soshu school indication as well that agree with judgement.
Gold foiled double layer habaki collar, sset in a plain wood Shira-Saya mounting.
