Blade construction: Hira-zukuri wakizashi, Iori-mune, Mihaba is in average and blade is extended long. There is upper pointed Sakizori curve and Fukura upper point is less.
Forging(Hada): Ko-Itame fine wood grains generally mixing in with flowing Masame straight grains marks partially and slight bo-utsuri (reflections of the stripe tempering pattern) along back ridge side.
Temper(Hamon): Hamon is combination of undulating Notare and Gunome small pointed curves at frequent intervals which varies in shape and height. Habuchi temper edge is covered in thick and vivid Nie and deep Nioi. There works with Kinsuji (bright curved threadlike areas) and Sunagashi (streamslike blushing area). Upper the blade deeper around Monouchi striking area with pronounced nie hard metal granules and nioi mist-like crystalline areas that generates Tobiyaki and Muneyaki (temper splits over the surface and back ridge). The entire blade is tasteful and filled in with old atmosphere.
Tang(Nakago): Nakago remains UBU original. Two peg holes. Kurijiri round heel shape and Kattesagari slanted left filemarks.
Temper of tip (Boshi): Boshi is irregular blushing up.
Smith IETSUGU in Kaga province had belonged to Hashizume lineage and frontier 1st generation was active during Ouei (early 15 th century) period, prospered during Muromachi period about 200 years by generations. The subject long hirazukuri-shape wakizashi is appraised as a work of third generation IETSUGU on about Eisho era.
Attached Chisa-katana style koshirae
consists of complete set Brass work Dragon waves - Fuchi/kashira,Koikuchi, Kozuka slot rim, Kaeri and Kojiri. Katagiri-carved brass ground Dragon Kozuka. Shakudo dragon Tsuba, Menuki is shakudo Yobori AOI motif. Although the sheath is restored repainted by pure black lacquer, The entire koshirae remains good old status of Edo period.
